Saudi startups raised nearly $65 million during September 2026, according to reports by The Middle East Observer, in an indicator reflecting the continued influx of capital into the Kingdom's entrepreneurship ecosystem. Notably in this round, funding was concentrated in business infrastructure sectors, away from consumer applications that dominated earlier stages of the Saudi ecosystem, which analysts view as a sign of maturity.
At the sector level, Saudi fintech led the recent wave of regional funding across the Middle East and North Africa region, extending the momentum in the payments and digital financial services sector that the Saudi market has witnessed for years. Forbes Middle East data revealed that the five largest Saudi startups collectively raised $863 million in the first half of 2026 alone, demonstrating the true size of the market beyond individual round figures.
Regionally, MENA startup funding reached $1.7 billion in the first half of 2026 according to Arab News, with Saudi Arabia maintaining a major share of this total. These figures gain double significance in light of the 2026 national budget, which explicitly aims to produce two new Saudi unicorns as part of a 199 billion SAR digital economy target, while the current number of Saudi unicorns stands at 8 companies.
Analysts believe that the shift from funding consumer applications towards business infrastructure indicates that the Saudi ecosystem is solidifying its foundations and preparing for the next phase of growth, where large startups require management tools, B2B platforms, and logistics and financial solutions to serve them. If budget targets are met, Saudi Arabia will have raised its number of unicorns to 10 companies by the end of 2026.
