The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) met with representatives of Egyptian law firms to discuss the implementation of Decision No. 664/4 of 2026, which covers company incorporation procedures, restructuring, and corporate management. The Vice Executive Chairman of the Authority, Counselor Ahmed Sheta, stated that the Authority will implement the decision without imposing unjustified procedural burdens on stakeholders.

The meeting was held in accordance with directives from the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, according to the "Ahram Gate" portal. Sheta explained that the Authority is following up on complaints arising from the transition from paper-based to electronic procedures, a topic that has drawn remarks from law firms and companies recently.

The meeting aims to bridge the gap between regulatory text and practical application, so that the digital transition does not turn into an extra burden for those establishing a company or restructuring an existing entity. The decision covers both new and existing companies, addressing incorporation on one hand, and restructuring and corporate management on the other.

This comes at a time when Egypt seeks to accelerate incorporation procedures and reduce the time they take, as part of broader efforts to attract investment and improve the business climate. Industry professionals are awaiting implementation details, especially the application dates for each stage and the Authority's flexibility in cases where the electronic system breaks down.
