FTSE Russell Removes Egypt from Watch List After Meeting International Requirements
FTSE Russell has removed Egypt from its watch list after meeting international criteria. The EGX30 index rose 0.31% to 53,462 points, with turnover exceeding 1 billion pounds within half an hour.

FTSE Russell has officially removed Egypt and the Egyptian capital market from its watch list after the market fulfilled the required international standards, a step reflecting the market's improved standing with one of the most prominent global index providers.
The EGX30 index opened today's session with a 0.31% gain to reach 53,462 points, while turnover exceeded one billion pounds during the first half-hour of trading, according to a report by Youm7.
The decision comes after FTSE Russell deemed that the Egyptian market met the necessary conditions to exit the list, bringing an end to a period of anticipation that accompanied the market recently.
Exiting the watch list means the market is no longer subject to special monitoring by the index provider, which facilitates tracking by global funds and enhances the Egyptian Stock Exchange's standing among foreign investors. The decision also provides index funds with a rationale to reconsider the Egyptian market's weighting within their portfolios.
What Do These Terms Mean?

Trading Value: The total value of shares traded during a session or a specific period, measuring the level of market activity.
Index Funds: Investment funds that replicate the performance of a specific index and purchase shares of its constituent companies, meaning market status directly impacts capital inflows.
