Hospitality M&A Deals Jump 106% to $39.6 Billion in First Half of 2026

Hospitality and Leisure: A massive acquisition wave despite a decline in deal volume

Mergers and acquisitions deals in the hospitality and leisure sectors recorded an exceptional surge during the first half of 2026, reaching a total value of $39.6 billion, up 106.8% compared to the same period last year, despite a drop in the number of completed transactions.

This contrast between rising value and declining volume reflects a clear shift toward massive, consolidated deals rather than multiple smaller acquisitions. This indicates that major operators and private equity investors are racing to secure major strategic assets in high-demand destinations.

Luxury tourism markets, wellness resorts, and global hotel chains top the lists of acquisition targets, while the Middle East and Africa region stands out as an attractive destination for mega-deals due to rapid growth in tourism demand and government expansion plans.

Data shows that private equity firms and sovereign wealth funds are deploying massive liquidity to snap up hospitality assets whose valuations have bounced back after years of post-pandemic recovery, making the second half of 2026 primed for further major deals.
