Namespace Raises $42 Million to Accelerate AI Developer Computing
Namespace raised $42 million in a funding round led by Scale Venture Partners to expand a compute cloud that runs AI agents and developer tools faster.

Namespace Labs raised $42 million in a Series B funding round led by Scale Venture Partners, with participation from NEA, 20VC, Essence, Burst Capital, and Susa Ventures. Founded in Zurich in 2022, the company offers a specialized compute cloud that runs AI agents, developer tools, continuous builds, containers, and tests at high speeds, allowing engineers to move faster through software development cycles. The round comes just seven months after its initial funding round led by NEA, bringing the company's total funding to $65 million.
This funding comes at a time when AI agents are becoming an increasing part of the coding process, compressing and shortening development cycles. Data from the 2025 DORA report, published by Google Cloud, indicates that 16.2% of respondents deploy updates on demand, 6.5% deploy hourly to daily, and 21.9% deploy daily to weekly. This increases demand for compute infrastructure capable of building, verifying, testing, and deploying at the required speed while maintaining quality.
The company says it built its cloud specifically for ephemeral storage, operating with high-speed networking and caching, rather than general-purpose virtual machines that require continuous tuning and monitoring and were designed around large enterprise metrics rather than developer needs. Namespace is investing in Mac hardware architecture, as many applications are built for the Apple ecosystem and run on iPhones and MacBooks, a market ignored by major infrastructure providers. Its platform supports multiple operating system versions and handles up to 12 virtual CPUs and 56 GB of memory, with build and test environments on Mac, Windows, and Linux.
The company will use the new funding to expand its data centers, including its fleet of Mac devices. This funding signals that the demand for compute infrastructure keeping pace with AI coding agents is turning into a venture capital-attracting market, at a time when developer tools were mostly served by general-purpose machines requiring constant tuning and monitoring.
What do these terms mean?
Series B Funding Round: A later-stage funding round for a startup after the initial round, used to expand the product and market.
AI Agents: Software powered by language models that executes multi-step tasks autonomously, such as writing code, debugging, and running tests.
Continuous Build: Automated execution of software build and verification steps whenever a new modification is added to the code.
Containers: A lightweight isolated environment carrying software and its requirements together, enabling it to run the same way on any device.
Ephemeral Storage: Temporary storage space created when a task begins and deleted immediately upon completion, speeding up test execution.
