CoreWeave Enters India with 240 MW for AI Services

American AI cloud computing company CoreWeave announced its entry into the Indian market by leasing 240 MW of power across three buildings inside the AdaniConneX campus in the Taloja area of Navi Mumbai, serving as the sole tenant, according to Business Wire. The agreement grants the company an option to double the capacity by up to an additional 240 MW at the same location.

CoreWeave plans to operationalize the first phase of the project in mid-2028, with remaining capacities brought online in subsequent phases. The facilities are designed to accommodate high-density AI infrastructure, utilizing direct liquid cooling for GPU halls and a non-evaporative chilled water cooling system.

The company is deploying the NVIDIA Vera Rubin platform inside these facilities to power training, inference, reasoning, and intelligent agent workloads. Sachin Jain, Chief Operating Officer at CoreWeave, said India possesses the "talent, developers, and ambition to become a major hub for AI innovation," adding that the company intends to open a local office and hire Indian personnel.

AdaniConneX is a 50:50 joint venture between Adani Enterprises and EdgeConneX. CoreWeave mentioned in its earnings call on August 11, 2026, that it has approximately 4.2 GW of contracted power and recently entered Indonesia following its listing on the Nasdaq stock exchange in March 2025. The project comes at a time when India is expanding its AI infrastructure under the "IndiaAI" initiative.

What do these terms mean?

Megawatt: A unit of electrical power equal to one million watts. It is used here to measure the amount of power consumed by a data center; every 240 MW represents a massive capacity sufficient to power a medium-sized city.

Liquid Cooling: A technology that removes heat from servers using liquids instead of air. AI processors require stronger cooling because they generate significant heat during continuous operation.

AI Cloud Computing: A service that rents out massive processing power over the internet to train and run AI models, instead of the customer purchasing and maintaining the servers themselves.
