The TASI index of the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul) closed the third quarter at 10,441 points, falling 3.3% during the quarter and 6.2% during September, according to market data. This decline erased all of the index's gains since the beginning of 2026, leaving it down 0.5% year-to-date.

Trading value over nine months reached 894.26 billion riyals, a 12% drop compared to the same period of the previous year, with a daily average of 4.89 billion riyals. These values are compared against usual levels to determine liquidity availability and the strength of any price movement in upcoming sessions.

On the other hand, Aramco shares rose from 23.83 riyals to 25.22 riyals during the quarter, gaining 6%. The Media and Entertainment and Transportation sectors led the declining sectors, dropping 54% and 23%, respectively.

Erasing year-to-date gains means an investor who bought at the start of 2026 achieved no gain from the index's movement. The declining performance also weighs on the appetite of funds and retail investors toward the Saudi market. Markets are monitoring the performance of the energy sector and earnings of major companies as they determine the index's direction in upcoming sessions.
