Manus Raises Over $500 Million After China Blocks Meta Deal
Butterfly Effect, the parent company of the AI agent platform Manus, has raised over $500 million in its first funding round after China blocked its acquisition by Meta.

Butterfly Effect, owner of the AI agent platform Manus, has raised over $500 million in its first funding round since China blocked its $2 billion acquisition by Meta, according to TechCrunch.
The round was led by Boyu Capital and IDG Capital, with participation from existing shareholders Tencent, HSG, and ZhenFund. Manus did not disclose its valuation in the new round, leaving its current value open to market estimates.
Reports last month indicated that the company was negotiating funding that would value it at around $4 billion. The size of the new round reflects continued investor appetite for AI agents capable of automatically executing multi-step tasks in sequence.
The funding comes months after Chinese regulatory scrutiny prevented the completion of the Meta deal, a move that reshuffled the company's priorities toward independent expansion under local ownership. The participation of prominent Chinese investors indicates that the company seeks to solidify its base in the Asian market before any overseas expansion.
