Contrasting with the general performance, 'Abu Dhabi Aviation' stock jumped by 14.84% to close at AED 6.19, 'MAIR Group' rose by 9%, and 'Lulu Retail' gained 6.77%, marking sharp gains for specific stocks.
On the other hand, 'First Abu Dhabi Bank' fell by 1.44%, being one of the largest listed stocks in the market by market capitalization, which capped the rise of the general index. The Abu Dhabi market includes a number of the region's largest banks, which are heavyweights in the index whose movements alone can shift its direction.
The Abu Dhabi General Index measures the performance of companies listed in the emirate, and its movements are tracked alongside the Dubai Financial Market index to gauge UAE market performance. The divergence of individual stock performance from the general index indicates that gains are concentrated in specific stocks, a scenario different from sessions where most stocks rise simultaneously.
