Delegates at the London Bullion Market Association conference predicted that the price of gold would reach approximately $5,013.30 per ounce a year from now, roughly 20 percent higher than the level of $4,163.30 prevailing when the survey was conducted during the conference.

Participants raised their forecasts for silver to $94.70 per ounce, an increase of over 54 percent from its level at the time, signaling expectations that precious metals will continue their rise in the coming months at a faster pace than gold itself.

A survey conducted by UBS Asset Management showed that diversification is the primary reason for holding gold, cited by 65 percent of participants, while speakers warned of ongoing volatility and highlighted concerns related to sovereign debt and the erosion of currency values against hard assets.

This optimism reflects the prevailing view in the precious metals market that official demand from central banks, alongside global debt concerns, will keep gold prices supported over the long term, even with continued short-term volatility that could push prices into wider ranges in the coming months.
