Boursa Kuwait Closes Lower as 'Main 50' Bucks the Trend

Boursa Kuwait's general index closed down 34.79 points, or 0.40 percent, at 8,632.71 points in Thursday's session, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA). The Premier Market index dropped 31.55 points to 9,032.86 points, down 0.35 percent, in a session where trading reached 146.7 million shares worth 58.6 million dinars, or about 180.4 million dollars.

The Main Market index recorded a larger decline, losing 58.50 points to close at 8,860.03 points, down 0.66 percent, marking the deepest drop among the stock exchange's indices during the session. The sharper fall in this index compared to the Premier Market indicates that selling pressure was more intense on smaller-cap stocks.

Conversely, the 'Main 50' index was the sole exception in the session, rising 27.52 points to 10,084.29 points, or 0.27 percent. This divergent performance demonstrates that market movement was not unified, and that a segment of stocks found support despite the decline in the general index.

This divergence among indices reflects the absence of a single clear direction in Thursday's session, at a time when Gulf markets are influenced by a mix of regional tensions and oil price movements. Liquidity levels remain one of the key factors monitored by traders to gauge the strength of any upcoming trend.
