EnduroSat, headquartered in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, has raised $205 million in a new funding round, bringing its valuation to over $1 billion, making it the second Bulgarian tech company to reach this milestone, according to the Vestbee platform.
The round was led by Riot Ventures and Atreides Management, with participation from the European Innovation Council Fund, GV, Founders Fund, and Lux Capital, well-known names in technology and space financing.
The company intends to use the proceeds to develop its "ESPA-class FRAME" spacecraft line, expand its satellite manufacturing capabilities, and establish a new manufacturing site in the United States. The U.S. expansion reflects the European company's endeavor to move closer to the largest market for space services.
This funding comes at a time of increasing demand for small and medium-sized satellites for connectivity, sensing, and scientific services, alongside declining launch costs and growing commercial demand. Reaching "unicorn" status provides an indicator of the European space sector's maturity and growing investor confidence. The participation of the European Innovation Council Fund in the round points to institutional European support to strengthen the local space industry amid rising global competition for satellite contracts.
