Vinci Raises $250 Million to Accelerate AI Physics Simulation
Vinci closed a $250 million Series B funding round at a $1.5 billion valuation, led by Advent, Temasek, and Zora Innovation.

Palo Alto-based Vinci closed a $250 million Series B funding round at a $1.5 billion valuation, led by Advent, Temasek, and Zora Innovation, according to Advent International's website.
Investors participating in the round included AMD Ventures, Eclipse, Khosla Ventures, and Madrona, reflecting broad interest from technology and chip funds in this type of engineering tool.
The company relies on its "Continuous Physical Inference" platform, stating that it is used in production engineering software and handles workloads ranging from hundreds of millions to over 15 billion degrees of freedom in minutes.
The funds will be used to expand the platform's coverage from thermal and fluid workloads into memory, advanced computing, vehicles, aircraft, and satellites, according to the company, expanding its scope beyond traditional energy and cooling sectors, which are fields requiring precise physical simulation prior to manufacturing.
What Do These Terms Mean?
Degrees of Freedom: The number of independent variables that describe the state of a physical system; the higher the number, the greater the simulation's precision and complexity.
Series B: A relatively later funding round following Seed and Series A rounds, typically used for market expansion.
Advanced Computing: The use of advanced processors and methods to accelerate massive scientific and engineering calculations.
