The Department of Homeland Security published a notice in the Federal Register excluding DeepSeek products from civilian government procurement and requiring their removal from its systems.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced, in a notice published in the Federal Register on Tuesday, the exclusion of information technology products and services developed by Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence and its subsidiaries from purchases by civilian agencies in the executive branch.
The notice requires the removal of all DeepSeek products and products developed by its subsidiaries, in addition to third-party products and services built using DeepSeek applications, from information technology systems in civilian agencies.
The notice republishes an order issued last June 26, based on the Federal Acquisition Supply Chain Security Act and a review conducted by the Federal Acquisition Security Council, according to the notice.
The scope of the notice is limited to procurement and civilian systems in the executive branch, and specifies that the exclusion includes subsidiaries defined under applicable regulations.
