The Saudi Public Investment Fund injected $14 billion in the first nine months of 2026, ranking second among Gulf sovereign wealth funds. This volume of spending comes as part of the fund's investment activity domestically and abroad, as it is one of the largest sovereign funds in the world. Investors in the region closely monitor the volume of the fund's spending because it reflects the priorities of the Saudi economy and its trajectory in the coming period.

The UAE's Mubadala topped the list with investments totaling $26.2 billion, according to data from Global SWF in its annual report (MENA Guide 2026). Thus, Mubadala outperformed its Gulf peers in terms of the volume of executed investments during the same period.

Total investments by sovereign wealth funds in the region reached $102 billion across 245 deals, representing 39% of total global state-owned investor deals. This share indicates the weight of Gulf and regional funds in global government investment, as well as their growing role in the markets.

The spending volume of sovereign funds is of particular importance in regional markets, as it fuels demand for equities, infrastructure, and direct investments. It also provides long-term financing for major projects in the region, making it a key driver of economic activity and diversification plans.
