Planet Labs GmbH announced that its subsidiary Sinergise Solutions was selected by the European Space Agency to build the Space Resilience Node in Slovenia, according to Business Wire via FinancialContent.

The project runs for twelve months as a pilot phase under the European Resilience from Space Earth observation program, integrating European Copernicus program data with the company's PlanetScope imagery to provide a clearer picture of Earth.

The system can task Planet's Pelican satellite fleet to capture new images on demand, with wildfire management being the project's first use case before expanding into other fields.

Planet's stock fell nearly 4% during trading amid a broad sell-off in the space sector, according to the same source, indicating that the project win news did not isolate the stock from sector pressure during that session.

What do these terms mean?

Pelican: A modern imaging satellite fleet belonging to Planet Labs, providing high-resolution imagery with on-demand tasking capabilities for specific locations when needed.

Resilience Node: A local platform or hub that aggregates space data and transforms it into actionable services for a specific entity or country, aiming to support decision-making during crises.
