Amazon announced plans at the "Invest in Germany" summit in Berlin on Tuesday to invest more than 16 billion euros in Germany during 2027.

The investments include expanding data centers and AI infrastructure, high-speed satellite internet via the "Amazon LEO" network, new logistics projects across the country, and new productions for "Prime Video," according to a company statement. Amazon is opening its second robotics and AI lab in Berlin, doubling its research presence in the capital, while completing updates to existing fulfillment centers in several states during 2027 and 2028.

Amazon allocated 4.8 billion euros of the total amount to expand the AWS Europe region in Frankfurt during 2027 to meet the demand for cloud and AI services. It stated that it has created more than 40,000 permanent jobs in Germany, including 3,000 at AWS.

David Zapolsky, General Counsel and Head of Global Affairs at Amazon, said the company has invested more than 100 billion euros in Germany since 2010 and intends to add 16 billion euros in 2027. Minister of Economics and Energy Katharina Reiche said the investment is a vote of confidence in Germany as a location for the future.
