On October 4, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the formation of the "Super Intelligence Force" to coordinate federal efforts in artificial intelligence and maintain global U.S. leadership, according to reports by CCTV and Xinhua News Agency. The move comes as part of a broader policy direction reorganizing the administration's handling of this dossier.
The group is led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, and its members include Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Department of Defense Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor, reporting directly to Trump and his Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
The announcement followed a White House meeting where executives from artificial intelligence companies signed a voluntary agreement on model controls, a path chosen by the U.S. administration instead of imposing binding regulatory rules on companies, meaning compliance remains a voluntary responsibility for the signatory companies.
On September 29, Trump had signed an executive order directing federal agencies to use the term "Super Intelligence" instead of "Artificial Intelligence" in their official correspondence, meaning the new designation has become standard in federal documents. On the same day, executives from U.S. tech companies signed the "White House Accord on Super Intelligence," which Trump described as morally binding, as reported by Xinhua.
What do these terms mean?
Super Intelligence Force: A U.S. government coordination group dealing with artificial intelligence policies. Executive Order: A decision issued by the head of state that directs the work of federal agencies without needing congressional approval. Voluntary Agreement: A legally non-binding commitment that companies voluntarily adhere to. Director of National Intelligence: The highest-ranking intelligence official in the United States.
