The Dubai Financial Market General Index fell 0.45% to close at 5,960.54 points, while the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange General Index dropped 0.6% to 10,070.32 points in the final session of September, according to Al Khaleej newspaper. Total liquidity across the two UAE markets reached approximately AED 1.9 billion. The decline came at a time when traders were awaiting new economic data and global interest rate trends.

Emirates NBD fell 1.8%, Salik dropped 2%, and First Abu Dhabi Bank dropped 1.49%, amid pressure from blue-chip stocks driving the indices. This decline comes at the end of the month, following previous gains achieved by the UAE markets. Blue-chip stocks, such as banks and utility companies, constitute the largest portion of the UAE indices' weight, making their impact clearly visible on general market performance. Traders view the decline as reflecting end-of-month profit-taking rather than a shift in investor sentiment toward the UAE market.

Separately, Aldar Properties and Arada announced a strategic partnership to develop major projects in Abu Dhabi, spanning an area of up to 1.5 million square meters on Yas Island and Seih Al Sdirah, with a total value approaching AED 15 billion. The partnership includes developing land in vital areas, enhancing the joint project portfolio of both companies and giving them a scale and financing advantage. Project execution is expected to begin in phases over the coming years.

Arab investors are interested in these two developments because they illustrate the direction of liquidity in an active UAE real estate market, and because new projects mean higher demand for financing, construction, and related services. Investors are also monitoring whether the decline in the indices will persist or if it was merely a temporary move in the last session of the month. The key question remains whether these new projects will support real estate development stocks in upcoming sessions.
