Dubai Court Orders Seller to Refund AED 700,000 for Counterfeit Watch
Dubai Civil Court ordered a seller to refund AED 700,000, the price of a counterfeit Patek Philippe watch sold as authentic, along with annual legal interest and court fees.

The Civil Court in Dubai ordered a seller to refund AED 700,000 to a buyer after being convicted of selling a counterfeit Patek Philippe watch as authentic, according to the civil lawsuit.
The court awarded annual legal interest at a rate of 5% in addition to fees and expenses, which are amounts added to the principal judgment amount, increasing the burden on the defendant.
The criminal ruling had been limited to a fine of AED 10,000 and confiscation of the watch, which was upheld on appeal and then by the Court of Cassation, becoming final between both parties.
The Civil Court stated that it is bound by the final findings of the criminal ruling, which made the conviction the basis for civil liability to refund the amount in full.
