Only Two Rounds Worth $9M in 24 Hours as the UAE Draws 70% of Regional Funding
Early-August closings in MENA totalled about $9M across two rounds, while the UAE captured $1.2B of the region's $1.7B first-half total.

Funding closings across the Middle East and North Africa over the past 24 hours were limited to two rounds worth roughly $9 million in total, covering the healthcare and artificial intelligence sectors in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
According to first-half 2026 data, startups in the region raised $1.7 billion across 242 funding rounds, down 18% from the same period of 2025, while the number of deals fell by 28%.
At country level, the UAE alone captured $1.2 billion of that total across 83 deals, or roughly 70% of regional capital and an annual increase of more than 125%, whereas Saudi Arabia came second with about $259 million across 80 deals.
By sector, fintech led with $708 million across 51 deals and therefore remains the region's largest category, as investors continue to favour larger markets and more mature sectors amid geopolitical uncertainty.
