German Reverion Raises $175 Million to Expand Carbon-Negative Power Plants
German company Reverion raises $175 million led by Kambara to expand carbon-negative power plant production tenfold.

German company Reverion has raised $175 million in a Series B funding round led by Kambara, with participation from Allianz, KfW Capital, Aurum Impact, and Carbon Equity, alongside existing investors including the EIC Fund. The company builds carbon-negative power plants—facilities that remove more carbon from the air than they produce.
The company stated that the proceeds from the round will be directed toward a gigafactory in Germany, scaling manufacturing capacity tenfold to 250 megawatts annually, and transferring the product to the megawatt class. This means moving from pilot units to facilities capable of supplying large amounts of electricity to the grid.
The company builds containerized mini-power plants powered by reversible solid oxide fuel cells, generating electricity on demand while capturing carbon dioxide derived from biogenic materials. This design allows the plant to function simultaneously as a power generator and a carbon capture system, rather than separating the two processes.
This funding comes as countries across the region expand clean energy and carbon capture projects to meet their climate goals, drawing investor interest to zero-emission industrial technologies. The challenge for this type of company remains proving the viability of commercial-scale manufacturing and reducing unit costs—a test this round aims to fund.
What do these terms mean?
Fuel cells: Devices that generate electricity through chemical reactions rather than combustion. Solid oxide fuel cell: A type operating at high temperatures with high efficiency. Carbon-negative energy: A system that removes more carbon from the atmosphere than it produces. Biogenic carbon dioxide: Carbon generated from organic sources such as plants or waste. Megawatt: A unit measuring electrical capacity equivalent to one thousand kilowatts.
