G42 and AMI Labs Sign MoUs to Explore 'World Models' Collaboration
G42 and its portfolio company Analog signed non-binding memorandums of understanding with AMI Labs, co-founded by Yann LeCun, on the sidelines of the UAE-France Business Dialogue.

UAE-based group G42 and its portfolio company Analog signed non-binding memorandums of understanding with AI research firm Advanced Machine Intelligence on the sidelines of the UAE-France Business Dialogue in Abu Dhabi on October 19.
The agreements cover advanced AI research, computing infrastructure, sovereign cloud, and potential industrial applications, according to a press release published by ZAWYA.
Turing Award winner Yann LeCun co-founded Advanced Machine Intelligence, which works on developing "world models," AI systems that attempt to understand the physical environment, predict the outcomes of actions, and support planning and reasoning. Analog is led by Alex Kipman, one of the developers of HoloLens and Kinect at Microsoft. The potential partnership aims to combine AMI's research with G42's infrastructure, cloud, and deployment capabilities, along with Analog's "physical intelligence" platform, to identify sectors where world models can be applied.
Mansoor Al Mansoori, CEO of G42 International, said the collaboration builds on the partnership between the UAE and France in responsible technological advancement. Alexandre Lebrun, co-founder and CEO of AMI, said that "world models are the path by which AI will learn to understand and operate in the physical world." The MOUs provide a framework for information exchange and defining common goals, with scopes, commercial terms, and execution to be defined in separate definitive agreements, according to the statement.
What Do These Terms Mean?
World Models: AI systems that learn from observing the physical environment and predict the outcomes of actions, rather than relying solely on processing text.
Sovereign Cloud: Cloud computing infrastructure managed within a country or according to its rules, ensuring sensitive data remains under its control.
Physical Intelligence: The ability of systems to perceive and interact with the real world, such as robotics, smart cities, and factories.
Memorandum of Understanding: A preliminary non-binding agreement outlining the parties' intent to collaborate, preceding final binding contracts.
