Database and developer infrastructure company Supabase raised $150 million in a round led by Singapore's GIC, with participation from CapitalG, Iron Arc, and Square Peg. The round comes about four months after a previous $500 million round, a short time gap reflecting the need of companies working in the field of intelligent agents for fresh capital.
Alongside the funding, the company announced its plan to acquire Turso, a startup building a dedicated database for each individual AI agent. Turso founder Glauber Costa will join Supabase as Head of Agentic Services, a new position linked to transforming the database from a data store into a fully automatically managed service.
The company stated that 70% of new databases are now created by AI agents or tools, a figure explaining the company's direction toward building tools targeted at this category of users. This means that whoever builds a database today may be a program operating on its own rather than a programmer sitting in front of a screen.
Developers and companies relying on cloud databases benefit from this shift, as tools designed for agents reduce the need for manual server and backup management. Open questions remain regarding the operating cost of these databases and the volume of data each agent can generate—questions that will determine whether this market will continue to grow at this pace.
