International Institutions Forecast Saudi Economic Growth at 3.2% in 2026 and 4.3% in 2027

The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank project the Saudi economy to grow by 3.2% in 2026, indicating a gradual recovery following a period of oil pressures and production cuts tied to OPEC+ agreements.

Saudi economic growth is expected to accelerate to 4.3% in 2027, driven by the lifting of oil production quotas under the phased OPEC+ path, alongside strong momentum in the non-oil sector as part of Vision 2030.

The Kingdom's non-oil sector is enhancing its contribution to GDP, particularly in tourism, entertainment, manufacturing, and financial services, amid comprehensive structural reforms implemented by the Saudi government.

Saudi Arabia maintains the largest development budget in its history, with annual spending exceeding 1.2 trillion riyals, reflecting its commitment to achieving Vision 2030 goals and diversifying the economy away from oil.

What Do These Terms Mean?

OPEC+: An alliance that includes traditional OPEC countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Kuwait, alongside non-OPEC oil-producing nations like Russia and Mexico. Its members agree on oil production levels to manage global prices.

Vision 2030: The comprehensive economic diversification plan launched by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2016, aimed at reducing the economy's dependence on oil, boosting the private sector's contribution, and developing tourism, entertainment, and industry.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP): The total value of all goods and services produced by a country during a full year. An increase in GDP signifies economic expansion and an improved standard of living, whereas a decline indicates recession and unemployment.
