The EGX 30 index fell by 0.48% to close at 53,298.14 points, marking its second consecutive declining session, amid trading valued at EGP 9.085 billion, according to Arab Finance.

The EGX 70 index declined by 0.68% to 19,642.65 points, and the EGX 100 index dropped by 0.69% to 25,953.13 points, indicating that the downturn included large, medium, and small-cap stocks alike.

In terms of investor transactions, foreign investors recorded net sales of EGP 142.67 million, and Arab investors recorded net sales of EGP 65.41 million, while Egyptian investors recorded net purchases of EGP 208.07 million.

The market capitalization of listed shares on the Egyptian Exchange reached EGP 4.213 trillion after the session. The EGX 30 is the main index measuring the performance of the top 30 companies in terms of liquidity and size in the market, alongside two broader indices: EGX 70 for mid-cap companies, and EGX 100, which combines large and mid-cap companies into a single index.

What do these terms mean?

EGX 30 Index: The main index of the Egyptian Exchange, measuring the performance of the top 30 companies in terms of liquidity and size. Net Buying and Selling: The difference between the value of what investors sold and what they bought; net selling means sales exceeded purchases. Market Capitalization: The total value of shares of companies listed on the stock exchange, calculated by multiplying the share price by the number of shares. Foreign Investor: An investor from outside the country trading in the local market, whose movements are tracked as an indicator of foreign capital confidence.
