Anthropic Closes $65 Billion Funding Round with Valuation Nearing One Trillion

AI-specialized company Anthropic has closed a massive $65 billion funding round, raising its valuation to $965 billion, equivalent to about 97% of the trillion-dollar threshold, according to reliable reports.

This round came amid an unprecedented wave of investment in the artificial intelligence sector, as the sector recorded a record total funding of $510 billion during the first half of 2026, with Anthropic and its partner OpenAI together accounting for nearly 43% of this figure.

Anthropic was founded in 2021 by Dario Amodei and a group of OpenAI defectors, becoming in a few years one of the most prominent companies in the large language model competition, particularly after launching its Claude model family that directly competes with GPT-4 and Gemini.
