Air India Cuts 4 European Destinations, Redirects Capacity to Asia
Air India is withdrawing four European destinations from its winter schedule, including Vienna and Birmingham, while increasing flights to Sydney and launching a route to Osaka.

Air India is withdrawing four European destinations from its winter 2026-2027 flight schedule, in a move that reallocates its capacity toward Australia and Japan, according to published flight schedules.
The changes include ending the four-weekly Delhi-Vienna route on October 31, and withdrawing the three-weekly Delhi-Birmingham route effective November 4. The airline had previously announced the termination of the Delhi-Copenhagen and Amritsar-London Gatwick routes starting October 25. Withdrawing Vienna will end the only direct air connection between India and Austria, although Vienna remains a technical stop on some of the company's flights between North America and India. The Amritsar-Birmingham route also remains subject to a temporary suspension during the winter, while bookings for it remain open.
These cuts come after a wave of adjustments announced by the airline earlier in the year due to rising jet fuel prices, which included temporary suspensions or reductions of several international flights between June and August, including Delhi-Newark and Mumbai-New York, as well as frequency cuts on Delhi-Paris, Milan, Zurich, and Rome routes.
Conversely, Air India intends to increase Delhi-Sydney flights from seven to 11 weekly flights, and launch a new route to Osaka with four weekly flights starting February 2027, reflecting a redirection of capacity rather than a reduction across all markets.
