Gold Rises 10% in August and Trades Near $4,670 at Its Highest Levels Since January

Gold traded near the $4,670 per ounce level during Monday's session, August 24, 2026, recording a daily rise of about 0.83% or $38, at its highest levels in several months.

The yellow metal achieved weekly gains of about 5% and a monthly rise exceeding 10%, marking its best monthly performance since January 2026, after launching from near the $4,000 level at the beginning of August.

This rise came amid a broad buying wave for safe havens, as inflation fears and dollar pressures continued to support demand for gold from both institutional and retail investors alike.

This level puts gold to a real test of resistance, as monthly and weekly momentum indicators point to the possibility of continued gains, though the speed of record gains warrants caution regarding a technical correction in the near horizon.

What Do These Terms Mean?

Troy Ounce: The official unit of weight for trading precious metals, equivalent to approximately 31.1 grams.

Safe Haven: An investment asset that investors turn to during times of economic uncertainty in search of protection from loss.
