Google Brings Agents to Gemini, Targeting Enterprises First
Google adds agentic capabilities to Gemini via a single agent that answers and executes tasks, serving over a billion monthly users and 90% of Fortune 100 companies.

Google has added agentic capabilities to its Gemini assistant through a unified agent that answers questions and executes tasks from a single interface, with enterprise customers gaining access first. The company has not announced a timeline for making the feature available to the general public.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai stated that Gemini's monthly active users have surpassed one billion, and that approximately 90% of Fortune 100 companies use Gemini Enterprise. These figures serve as an indicator of the size of the base the company is targeting in this shift.
For his part, Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, described the new agent as receiving "goals, not just instructions," meaning that the user sets the desired outcome and leaves the agent to organize the execution steps itself, rather than dictating every step to it.
This represents a transition from an assistant that answers a question to a system that completes an entire task, a trend currently being pursued by major tech companies. This shift is particularly relevant to companies in the Arab region considering integrating these tools into their operations, as it determines the nature of integration with existing systems, cost structures, and oversight of the agent's actions.
