China's Central Bank Extends Gold Buying Streak to 21 Consecutive Months, Reports Say

China's central bank (the People's Bank of China) has extended its streak of gold purchases to 21 consecutive months, according to reports, through the end of July 2026, providing a consistent periodic indicator of China's strategic direction toward diversifying international reserves.

These ongoing purchases fall within a broader Chinese policy aimed at reducing reliance on the US dollar in official reserves and seeking alternative assets that are more independent of the Western financial system.

China continues to rank among the top ten countries in official gold reserves globally; however, gold's share of its total reserves remains lower than its European counterparts, supporting expectations that this buying trend will continue.

Analysts believe that the central bank of China's continued purchasing for such an extended period sends a clear message to markets that any decline in gold prices will meet strong institutional demand, preventing a sharp drop.
