Banyan Group is acquiring an initial 70% stake in Newmark Hotels and Reserves for approximately 533 million rand ($33 million).

The deal values the company at approximately 756 million rand, with the transition to full ownership tied to achieving a specific target for stabilized earnings.

The deal adds 26 hotels, lodges, and reserves across seven African countries, entering Banyan into the markets of Namibia, Nigeria, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.

The announcement came alongside data from UN Tourism indicating 81 million arrivals to Africa in 2025, an 8% increase.
