Tarek Amin, CEO of Saudi company «Humain», stated that the Kingdom has allocated around 14 gigawatts of power capacity to operate AI computing centers, facilities the company describes as "AI factories." The remarks came during a speech he delivered at an economic forum in Riyadh.
During the economic forum hosted in Riyadh, Amin cited agreements concluded by the company, including a deal with «Amazon», noting that a joint venture with «AMD» is moving forward. These partnerships represent part of the company's efforts to expand its computing infrastructure.
The figure of around 14 gigawatts points to the scale of power infrastructure required by mega data centers, as these facilities consume large amounts of electricity to run servers and cooling systems around the clock. The availability of power is one of the most critical factors attracting AI projects to any market, alongside connection speed and the availability of prepared land.
These statements come at a time when countries in the region are competing to build AI computing capabilities amid growing demand for data centers and cloud services. «Humain», a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund, leads Saudi Arabia's efforts in this field, making the amount of allocated power an indicator of the Kingdom's ambition in this sector.
