Rocket Lab Reportedly Raises $1.94 Billion via New Equity Offering Program to Fund Iridium Acquisition
Rocket Lab has reportedly announced the launch of an at-the-market (ATM) equity offering program of up to $1.94 billion, aimed at providing the necessary funding to complete its acquisition of satellite communications company Iridium.

Official filings have reportedly revealed that Rocket Lab has launched an at-the-market (ATM) equity offering program with a total size of $1.94 billion to secure the necessary financial resources to complete its massive acquisition of satellite communications company Iridium.
An at-the-market (ATM) offering program allows companies to issue new shares incrementally through the stock exchange at prevailing market prices without the need for a costly public offering, providing greater flexibility in raising capital. Rocket Lab reportedly turned to this program to capitalize on the sharp rise in its stock price following the announcement of the Iridium deal.
The acquisition of Iridium is reportedly valued at approximately $8 billion and received approval from 99.6% of Iridium shareholders, making the new offering program the most prominent financing step toward completing the anticipated merger between the two companies.
Although injecting such large amounts of new shares reportedly dilutes existing shareholders' stakes (share dilution), investors are betting that the future value of the combined entity will offset and exceed this impact, explaining the resilience of Rocket Lab's stock price in the market despite the scale of the offering.
