IMF Expects UAE Economic Growth of 5% in 2026
The International Monetary Fund projected that the UAE economy will grow by 5% during 2026, driven by non-oil sector activity and the expansion of tourism and financial services.

The International Monetary Fund projects that the UAE economy will achieve a growth rate of 5% in 2026, an optimistic assessment that reflects the international institution's confidence in the country's non-oil economic momentum, particularly in the tourism, financial services, and technology sectors.
Dubai leads the scene as a global financial and tourism hub, attracting more than 9 million international visitors during the first half of this year, while the real estate sector continued to record record-breaking sales figures, reinforcing the country's status as a preferred investment destination.
The UAE is pursuing an ambitious economic diversification strategy under the targets of Vision 2031, aiming to raise the contribution of non-oil sectors to GDP, alongside injecting massive investments into digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence.
Analysts note that the continued influx of foreign direct investment and competitive tax policies provide the UAE economy with a sharp competitive edge in attracting businesses and human talent regionally and globally.
What do these terms mean?
International Monetary Fund (IMF): An international organization comprising 190 countries, working to foster global financial stability. It publishes its economic growth forecasts twice a year in the "World Economic Outlook" report, which governments rely on to plan their budgets.
Non-oil sector: The sum of economic activities that do not depend on oil, such as tourism, trade, financial services, and manufacturing. The larger this sector is, the less vulnerable the economy is to oil price fluctuations.
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI): Capital injected by foreign companies or governments into a country to establish real factories or projects, distinct from stock investments. A rise in FDI signifies global confidence in the local business environment.
