Kraft Heinz Allocates $700 Million for Marketing and Innovation
Kraft Heinz is allocating $700 million this year for marketing, research, and development in an effort to regain market share, with spending behind the "PowerMac" brand growing by 35%.

Kraft Heinz has allocated $700 million this year for marketing and research and development (R&D), in an attempt to stop a multi-year loss of market share in its key markets, according to a Reuters report citing the company.
Marketing and R&D spending behind brands like "PowerMac" rose 35% compared to last year, which the company is counting on to revitalize demand for its products rather than relying on price cuts alone.
CEO Steve Cahillane, who took over in January and canceled a plan to split the company into two units, expects the pace of innovation to accelerate in 2027, meaning the impact of current spending will show on new products over the next two years.
The company has reformulated more than 1,000 recipes to add protein and fiber while reducing added sugar and fat, and launched cheese noodles in the United States as part of keeping pace with consumer shifts toward protein-rich products. Consumer goods markets monitor marketing spend figures as an indicator of corporate confidence in demand, because an increased budget typically signals preparation for stronger competition or new product launches, while the impact of this plan remains limited to the U.S. market so far.
What Do These Terms Mean?

Research and Development (R&D): Working on developing new products and improving existing ones.
Reformulation: Modifying product ingredients to change its nutritional value or taste.
Profit Margin: What remains of the selling price after deducting costs.
