Household Consumption and the Labor Market Support Domestic Demand in the UAE
Rising household spending and job availability contribute to supporting domestic demand in the UAE, boosting economic activity in the non-oil sector and offsetting the overall growth slowdown.

Domestic consumption and household demand are key pillars of economic growth in the UAE during 2026, offsetting the slowdown resulting from lower oil prices and maintaining the momentum of economic activity.
The UAE labor market is recording relatively high employment levels, driven by the continued influx of expatriate workers and growing job opportunities in the service, technology, and tourism sectors, which fuels consumer spending and drives domestic trade.
Reports by the Central Bank of the UAE recorded a growth in credit extended to households exceeding 8% on an annual basis, reflecting consumer confidence in economic stability and supporting spending on durable goods, real estate, and domestic tourism.
International institutions expect private consumption in the UAE to contribute more than 60% of total economic growth during 2026, making it the primary protective shield against the challenges facing the oil sector.
