The Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities in Egypt, represented by the New Urban Communities Authority, has opened reservations for 10,000 new housing units under the "rent-to-own" system, with reservations running through October 19, according to a report by "Masrawy".
The authority has enabled Cairo residents to reserve units in the "Valley Towers East" project in New Obour City and "Rawdat Al-Obour" in Obour City. Meanwhile, Alexandria residents can apply for units in the "Sakan Misr" and "Distinguished Housing" projects in New Alamein City, in accordance with the terms and regulations governing the offering.
The ministry stated that the decision comes in response to high demand and requests received from citizens, emphasizing adherence to the specific rules and conditions set for each individual project. The units are available according to the technical and financial regulations specific to each offered location.
The program is one of the Egyptian state's tools to expand homeownership options for low- and middle-income individuals in new cities. Unit prices and payment terms are determined based on the rules and conditions set by the authority for each project, provided that applicants apply during the announced period prior to the October 19 deadline.
What do these terms mean?
Rent-to-own: A system in which the beneficiary pays a monthly rent for a specified period and becomes the owner of the unit at the end of the term, instead of paying the full price upfront. New Urban Communities Authority: An Egyptian government entity responsible for establishing new cities, managing their units, and offering them. Reservation: Registering the desire to purchase or rent a unit according to the conditions of the offering.
