WTI Crude Falls 0.86% to Settle at $82.82 per Barrel
West Texas Intermediate crude recorded a 0.86% decline to close at $82.82 per barrel, amid selling pressure resulting from concerns over slowing global demand and rising US inventories.

The price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell by 0.86% in the latest trading session, settling at $82.82 per barrel, amid growing fears of declining global demand and weak economic data from major consuming economies.
This decline reflects the caution prevailing in global oil markets, as US government data reported a larger-than-expected rise in crude oil inventories, adding further pressure on prices and intensifying selling activity among traders.
Investors are closely watching the upcoming OPEC+ alliance decisions, amidst speculation regarding the possible extension or modification of production cuts. Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East remain a supporting factor limiting the extent of the decline.
Analysts point out that Texas crude faces technical resistance at the $83 level, and breaking below the $82 level could pave the way for a deeper correction toward $80, while seasonal Chinese demand provides a degree of price support in the near term.
What Do These Terms Mean?
West Texas Intermediate (WTI): One of the most prominent global oil price benchmarks, extracted in Texas and used as a reference for pricing oil in North America and many international contracts.
Crude Oil Inventories: Quantities of oil stored in reserves. An increase signals higher supply and exerts downward pressure on prices, and vice versa.
Technical Resistance: A price level that is difficult for the market to exceed on the upside, as traders tend to sell at this point, creating a barrier to further increases.
