Gold Approaches $4,600 Per Ounce Level, Gaining 34.62% Over a Year

Gold traded near $4,600 per ounce, registering a 34.62% gain compared to the same period last year, in an exceptional performance reflecting rising demand for safe-haven assets amid global economic uncertainty.

The yellow metal is bolstering its gains amid ongoing inflation concerns in major economies, as well as a weaker US dollar index, which typically makes buying gold cheaper in other currencies and supports global demand for it.

Global central banks, particularly those operating in emerging markets, continue to reinforce their gold reserves at a high pace, providing structural support for demand beyond short-term speculative movements.

Analysts anticipate a test of the $4,700 per ounce level in the near term, while some investors utilize gold as a strategic hedge against currency volatility and monetary policies, giving demand a structural character beyond immediate motives.

What Do These Terms Mean?

Safe Haven: Assets that retain or increase their value during times of crisis and uncertainty, such as gold, the Japanese yen, and the Swiss franc, to which investors resort when their appetite for risk declines.

Ounce: A unit of mass used in pricing precious metals, equal to approximately 31.1 grams, and serves as the international reference unit for trading gold and silver.

Central Banks: Government institutions responsible for managing monetary policy and monitoring financial stability, many of which hold gold reserves to strengthen confidence in the national currency.
