Quantum computing company "IonQ" has reached an agreement to acquire network security firm "Elisity" in an all-stock deal valued at up to $1.3 billion, according to "The Next Web".
A portion of the deal value, approximately $150 million, comes in the form of a payment contingent on the company achieving specific targets following the completion of the acquisition.
Elisity serves more than 100 clients, mostly in the healthcare sector, where demand for network protection solutions is growing as sensitive data moves to digital systems.
The deal is expected to close before the end of the year, subject to regulatory approvals. This step comes as advanced technology companies move to incorporate cybersecurity capabilities amid escalating attacks targeting digital infrastructure.
