Revolutionary Guard: Tanker Collided with Mine and Caught Fire in South Hormuz

Iran's Revolutionary Guard stated that an unidentified tanker sailing on an unauthorized southern route inside the Strait of Hormuz with its navigation systems turned off struck a sea mine, resulting in an explosion and a fire in the engine room.

The statement, reported by TASS agency, did not specify the ship's name, cargo, or whether there were casualties, leaving the extent of the damage and the nature of the shipment unclarified.

The Revolutionary Guard warned that vessels crossing the strait with turned-off navigation systems will face "firm and decisive measures," according to the statement.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important maritime passages, through which a significant portion of oil and gas exports passes, making any incident there a subject of close monitoring by shipping companies and energy markets.
