Nvidia Raises Prices of Its New Platforms by 15%, Forcing Data Centers to Recalculate
Nvidia sent official notices to major data center operators raising prices for Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell by more than 15%, driving them to accelerate their custom chip programs.

Nvidia sent official notices to major data center operators in the United States, Europe, and Asia informing them of price increases for the Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell platforms exceeding 15%, starting in the first quarter of 2026, in a move analysts described as a clear exploitation of its dominant position.
This increase comes at a highly sensitive time, as major operators such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Google seek alternatives to reduce their reliance on Nvidia, but find themselves forced to accept the new prices in the short term due to the lack of competitive alternatives offering the same performance. The three companies rushed to announce the acceleration of their custom chip plans in response to the increase.
Reports indicate that Nvidia relies on performance improvements in the two platforms to justify the increase, but a number of its customers believe the improvement ratio does not match the size of the price hike. Some companies have already begun reviewing their data center expansion contracts and postponing new orders pending further clarification from Nvidia.
This move reveals a sharp strategic paradox: Nvidia is raising prices in the only available market and forcing tech giants to accelerate their custom chips, meaning it is single-handedly accelerating its exit from the monopoly it enjoys today.
What do these terms mean?
Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell: Nvidia's next-generation platforms dedicated to AI computing, currently considered the highest-performing in the market.
Custom Chips: Processors manufactured by major companies for their own purposes instead of relying on Nvidia, such as Google's TPU and Amazon's Trainium.
Market Dominance: Control by a single company over a large share of the market, giving it the ability to control prices without fear of short-term competition.
