OpenAI Launches Its Most Powerful GPT-5 Model with Multimodal Capabilities in a Major Breakthrough
OpenAI announced the launch of GPT-5, which combines text, audio, images, and video into a single model, in what officials described as the largest leap in OpenAI's history.

OpenAI announced the launch of its new language model GPT-5, which significantly surpasses the capabilities of its predecessors in understanding text, images, audio, and video simultaneously, in what CEO Sam Altman described as the "biggest leap in the history of artificial intelligence."
GPT-5 is distinguished by its ability to perform complex logical reasoning and solve scientific and mathematical problems with unprecedented accuracy, as well as video understanding and real-time audio interaction, making it closer to a comprehensive personal assistant operating across multiple media.
Independent tests revealed that GPT-5 outperformed competing models in mathematical reasoning benchmarks, coding, and natural language understanding, although some researchers expressed reservations about the method of conducting these tests.
OpenAI competes with Google, Anthropic, Meta, and xAI to possess the most powerful model, in a race witnessing an unprecedented acceleration in the pace of releases. Arabic is considered one of the languages to which OpenAI has paid increasing attention in GPT-5, promising better performance for Arabic users in education, business, and local computing.
What do these terms mean?
Multimodal Model: An artificial intelligence model that can process different types of data simultaneously: text, image, audio, and video, instead of being limited to text alone like older models.
Reasoning: The ability of the model to think step-by-step to solve a complex problem, such as analyzing a legal case, diagnosing an illness, or solving a multi-step mathematical equation, rather than merely retrieving stored information.
Benchmarks: Standardized tests used to evaluate the capabilities of different AI models to compare them, like a standardized exam among students. The model with the highest score is considered the strongest in that task.
