Banque du Caire to Offer 30% on the Stock Exchange with First-Half Profits of EGP 8.94 Billion

State-owned Banque du Caire announced this week its intention to offer 30% of its shares on the Egyptian Exchange, where parent bank "Banque Misr" will sell approximately 4.575 billion existing shares via a fully secondary sale and retain the offering proceeds, according to Enterprise AM platform.

The prospectus shows that subscription is expected to close in late October, with trading starting in November, subject to the Financial Regulatory Authority's approval of the public offering prospectus and share listing, in addition to the approval of the Egyptian Exchange.

The bank recorded a net profit of EGP 8.94 billion in the first half of 2026, while its total assets reached EGP 561.22 billion at the end of last June.

The offering comes at a time when the Egyptian capital market is witnessing strong demand for major offerings, as institutional and retail tranches in the "MNT-Halan" offering attracted orders equal to 16 times the offered shares, with a total value of EGP 125.9 billion against an offering size of EGP 7.84 billion.

What Do These Terms Mean?

Secondary Sale: An offering of existing shares sold by their current owner, so the proceeds do not enter the company's treasury.

Financial Regulatory Authority: The Egyptian entity that licenses capital markets and approves offering prospectuses and share listings.

Multiple Oversubscription: Comparing order volume to available shares; the phrase "covered several times" means demand was many times the supply.

Total Assets: The sum of what the bank owns in loans, investments, and cash, used as an indicator of its business scale.
