JPMorgan Expects Gold to Reach $6,000 by End of 2026 in Most Bullish Forecast

JPMorgan, one of the world's largest investment banks, raised its gold price forecasts to set a price target of $6,000 per ounce by the end of 2026, in the boldest bullish bet among major financial institutions.

This target represents a jump of over 30% from current price levels of around $4,620, driven by a combination of factors including geopolitical tensions, record demand from central banks, and fears of depreciation in major currencies.

This forecast contrasts markedly with more conservative estimates from institutions like Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, and HSBC, which expect the end of 2026 to be in the range of $4,600-$4,900, reflecting the growing scope of uncertainty in gold markets.

In the coming period, three factors will determine the extent to which this ambitious goal is realized: the trajectory of the Federal Reserve's interest rate decisions, the pace of central bank purchases, and the outcomes of geopolitical tensions in hotspot regions.

What do these terms mean?

Price Target: An analyst's or financial institution's estimate of the level an asset's price will reach over a specific period, which is a forward-looking opinion with no guarantee of fulfillment.

Bullish Sentiment: An expression of the expectation that a financial asset's price will rise, as opposed to bearish sentiment, which means expecting a decline. The range of forecasts usually widens as uncertainty increases.

Currency Value and Its Impact on Gold: When the value of the dollar declines, assets like gold become cheaper for buyers outside the US, boosting global demand and pushing prices higher.
