Aramco Nearing $10 Billion Revolving Credit Facility

Saudi Aramco is nearing the completion of a revolving credit facility worth nearly $10 billion from a group of international banks, according to a report cited by Argaam platform from Bloomberg.

The facility is priced at a margin of approximately 60 basis points over the SOFR benchmark interest rate, a margin that reflects the company's strong creditworthiness and the depth of its relationship with lending banks.

The facility aims to support the company as oil prices rise and its capital expenditure expands across production, refining, and energy transition projects, providing a ready credit line as a flexible alternative to long-term borrowing.

The move comes at a time when Brent crude exceeds $100 per barrel, supporting company revenues while simultaneously raising the cost of expansion projects, making liquidity management a priority for oil majors.

What do these terms mean?

Revolving Credit Facility: An agreement with banks allowing a company to draw down and repay funds repeatedly over a specified period, up to an agreed maximum limit.

SOFR: A global benchmark interest rate on which prices of many U.S. dollar loans are based.

Basis Point: A small unit of measure for interest rates equal to one-hundredth of a percentage point, meaning 100 basis points equal 1%.

Capital Expenditure: Amounts invested by a company in long-term projects and assets, such as refineries and production fields.
