Abu Dhabi Rejects Ofcom Report on Telegraph Deal and Criticizes Its Methodology
International Media Investments rejected the British regulator Ofcom's report regarding the acquisition of The Telegraph, while the British government stated its interest in the deal has lapsed.

Abu Dhabi-based International Media Investments (IMI) rejected the report by British media regulator "Ofcom" regarding RedBird IMI's bid to purchase The Telegraph group, stating that the regulator reached its "methodology, reasoning, and conclusions before examining the evidence."
The company stated that the watchdog "was tasked with assessing a commercial media company, but failed to do so," in direct criticism of a report scrutinizing a deal submitted by RedBird IMI to purchase The Telegraph group—a deal that concluded with the German group Axel Springer acquiring the group in April.
For her part, British Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy said she would not refer Axel Springer's acquisition of The Telegraph group for an in-depth competition investigation, and that the government's interest in the acquisition would accordingly lapse.
This step brings a near conclusion to a lengthy British regulatory review of a deal involving a major national newspaper, after the secretary stated that the government would not continue to intervene, leaving the transaction to standard commercial and regulatory mechanisms.
