Cohere Intends to Acquire AISLE and Establish a Cybersecurity Unit

Canadian AI company Cohere signed a letter of intent on October 15 to acquire cybersecurity startup AISLE, according to CEO-North America.

Founded in 2025, AISLE is headquartered in San Francisco with an engineering hub in Prague. It was founded by former Avast CEO Ondřej Vlček alongside partners who previously worked at Google DeepMind and Anthropic.

The two companies did not disclose the financial details of the deal.

The union will result in a unit named "Cohere Cyber" that expands Cohere's presence in Europe, coming on the heels of the company's separate merger with Germany's Aleph Alpha.

What do these terms mean?

Letter of Intent: A typically non-binding document expressing both parties' intent to complete a transaction, preceding the final agreement.

Cybersecurity: Protecting systems, networks, and data from breaches, disruption, or unauthorized access.

Merger: Combining one company into another or merging two companies into a single new entity.

European Footprint: A company's presence, operations, and markets within Europe, typically strengthened by acquiring local companies.
