Domestic tourism in China witnessed stable growth during the week-long National Day holiday between October 1 and 7, as Chinese travelers made approximately 826 million domestic trips, according to figures from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Tourist spending on trips reached around 738.4 billion yuan, equivalent to $110.2 billion, while daily trips rose 6.3% and daily spending increased 4.3% year-on-year compared to the same period in 2025.

Trips to the countryside, autumn foliage viewing areas, "red tourism"—meaning visits to sites of historical significance to the Communist Party—and night tours topped the list of the most popular activities among travelers.

The inbound tourism market also recorded growth, as the mainland received approximately 2.98 million visits during the holiday, a daily increase of 19% over 2024 and 6.5% over 2025, reflecting a gradual recovery in foreign travel demand to China.
